PSHE
John F Kennedy Catholic School offers a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) program designed to prepare students for various life opportunities and challenges all within the context of our Catholic ethos.
PSHE is planned centrally but delivered by form tutors every Wednesday lesson 1, covering key topics such as physical and mental health and well-being, relationships, online safety and living in the wider world. This program is tailored to ensure students are safe, healthy, and well-prepared for their future.
While PSHE itself is a non-statutory subject in the UK, many of its components, including Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education, became statutory for all schools from September 2020 under the Children and Social Work Act 2017. This statutory guidance outlines essential content that schools must cover, though it does not encompass all aspects of PSHE. John F Kennedy Catholic School's PSHE curriculum aligns with these statutory requirements as well as providing education on topics that relate to our school community, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education that meets national standards and the needs of our students.
