Attendance
Attendance & Punctuality: Achieving Together
At John F Kennedy Catholic school, we are committed to providing an education that gives every student the best possible start in life. We believe that student performance, behaviour and attendance are fundamentally linked. Our ethos is to maximise the full potential of each student and in order to achieve this, high attendance rates are essential. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in a student’s academic success and personal wellbeing.
Why Attendance Matters
Research shows a direct link between high attendance and exam success. Students who attend regularly not only achieve better grades but also develop the social skills and resilience needed for life beyond the classroom.
-
90% Attendance might sound good, but it actually means your child misses one half-day every week.
-
Over a school year, 90% attendance equates to four weeks of lost learning.
-
Even a few days missed can create "knowledge gaps" that are difficult to close.
Reporting an Absence
If your son/daughter is going to be absent due to illness please telephone the school absence line or email by 9.00am on each day of absence.
