The Catholic Heart of John F. Kennedy: Love in Action

As a Catholic school, we strive to give our young people a profound experience of the Catholic faith and the positive impact it can have on the lives of all members of our community.

To do this, we take great inspiration from the life and practice of our school patron, John F. Kennedy, the first Catholic President of the United States of America.

Unlike most Catholic schools, our school patron is not a canonised saint. Like many of us, he has much he needs to bring to the foot of the cross. Despite this, he was a devout man who tried his best to apply the teachings of the Church in both his personal and presidential life. Through his actions, we understand that for John F. Kennedy, faith had to be lived out. Love had to be put into action.

Love in Action: Catholic Social Teaching

Following John F. Kennedy’s example, putting love in action means actively seeking ways to apply Catholic Social Teaching in our day-to-day life at John F. Kennedy Catholic School. To have clear goals and standards, we focus on 6 key principles of this teaching that allow our students to best explore what it means to be Catholic. These are:

  • Care of Creation

  • Preferential Option For The Poor

  • Solidarity and Peace

  • Human Dignity

  • Dignity of Workers

  • Community and Participation
