Enrichment

All students enjoy a rich programme of weekly enrichment sessions covering a diverse range of topics.  These can range from social awareness to buying a car & car maintenance! We also book high calibre and interesting guest speakers – from politicians to helicopter pilots.

Perspectives through Core RE

Outside of the A Level academic structure, students will follow ‘Perspectives’ , a programme of Core RE study that encourages discussion and opinion on moral and life issues based on their faith. In Year 12 topics will include Moral Decision Making, Poverty and a Christian Response, Sex and Relationships.  Successful completion leads to an additional Diploma level qualification.

Real Life Experiences

Students are offered a chance to participate in one of a number of activities including Dragons Apprentice, Engineering Education Scheme Award and Institute of Financial Services (IFS) Investors Challenge.  Additionally they are encouraged to seek work experience in their possible future career.

Volunteering

An important aspect in developing students for the rigours of adult life is experience of leadership and volunteering opportunities.  All students in Year 12 are expected to take on one of the many opportunities and challenges available, both in school and in our wider community.  These include opportunities such as; Sports Leaders, Language Leaders, Head of House, Peer Mentoring, Reading Club and Maths Clubs.

Student-led Societies

The societies are organised and run by students for students who share common interests, and these can cover a wide range of aspects.  The number and make-up vary from year to year but have included; Medical, Film, Law, Manga, Disney (with pizza!),  Debating – just to name a few!

“Students experience numerous opportunities to ‘serve’ others, such as through the volunteering programme.  Leaders ensure that students’ work experience is linked to their aspirations and interests”
