Here they learn about possible Sixth Form subjects from Y13 students.
Step 1 – Now
Consider the pathway to follow and undertake some research into the possibilities and options. Look at the entry requirements for this preferred pathway and decide if Sixth Form study is the right option. Consult with your teachers, parents/carers and possible careers interviews.
If it is, from researching careers etc., decide what A Level subjects to study and see if this combination is available. Fully complete the application form which must be submitted by Monday 29th January 2018.
A copy of the Application Form can be downloaded from the 'Application Forms' link on the left
Please return the form to: John F Kennedy School, Attn: Mr Palumbo
Step 2 – From now until June
Focus on GCSE subjects and create a study plan that balances the needs of getting the best grades and maintaining a healthy perspective on social life. The Year 11 teachers and pastoral team will advise on best practice.
Step 3 – Attend the Sixth Form Induction Day - Friday June 22nd 2018
This is an important day for students continuing their education into Sixth Form. Prospective students will receive information about Sixth Form Life and gain an insight into lessons for their chosen subjects. Details of the summer tasks will also be issued on this induction session.
Step 4 – August GCSE Results Day
Confirmation of subject choices are to be made on the day by completing the form enclosed with the results. If changes to subjects wish to be made, this is possible but only after an appointment with the Sixth Form Team has been made so that availability and options can be discussed. Careers advice on College courses or Apprenticeships will also be available.
Step 5 – Sixth Form Welcome Days
These are non-teaching days at the start of term in September. Students will be allocated to forms, meet the Sixth Form team, participate in programme of activities.
